The PokerStars PA Winter Series is back for it’s second year with a $1 million guaranteed prize pool, an increase of $325k from the the inaugural Winter Series.
Here we break down the most important things you need to know about this huge series running in Pennsylvania through the end of January.
The Winter Series runs for 10 days
The PokerStars PA Winter Series began on January 21st and will run through January 31st, where multiple events will be held each day.
45 events in total will be held
Despite the fact that the series will only run for 10 days, PokerStars PA is packing in a lot of tournament poker, with an average of 4 and a half events held per day.
It’s not just No Limit Hold’em
Although most of the tournaments are dominated by No Limit Holdem with buy-ins ranging from $10 to $1,000, there are some scattered alternative games through the schedule including for HORSE, Pot Limit Omaha, NL 5-Card Draw, No Limit Omaha Hi/Lo, 8 Game and 5-Card Pot Limit Omaha.
The Main Event will guarantee $200,000
Held on January 31st at 5 PM ET, the $300 buy-in Main Event will guarantee a cool $200,000 prize pool. For those that prefer to play a bit smaller, a $50 buy-in $35,000 guaranteed Mini Main Event will also be held at 6 PM ET the same day.
While not labeled as a Main Event, a $1,000 buy-in event will be held for High Rollers on January 27th at 9 PM ET.
You can qualify for free
Satellites will be held for the PokerStars PA Winter Series before the series begins and once it starts. There are also low cost and no-cost ways to qualify for the Main Event.
On January 31st before the Main Event, players can qualify for a Depositor Freeroll, which will award $10,000 in Main Events seats. Players can qualify by depositing $30 or more before the tournament when using bonus code FREEZE.
So called Second Chance Freerolls will also be held daily. Players that enter other Winter Series events but do not cash can qualify for the Second Chance Freerolls, which will award tickets to other Winter Series events.
