PokerStars went live in PA on Monday for eight hours. Action picked up again on Tuesday from 2 PM to midnight, which will be two hours more than yesterday. If everything goes well, PokerStars PA will be live around the clock beginning on Wednesday.
The first hand was dealt at PokerStars shortly after 2 PM ET yesterday and by the end of the day, had reached a peak of over 700 real players, an impressive mark for the first day of opening
The launch did so well, in fact, that the online poker room was the biggest in the United States on Monday, eclipsing the WSOP.com/888 player pool that is in both Nevada and New Jersey.

Whats available at PokerStars?
Despite being in a soft-launch period, the PokerStars client has undergone internal testing for months and seems to be player ready. This includes having most of its games and offerings available in the poker room.
A large variety of cash games are offered at PokerStars PA with all of the following available for selection in the lobby.
- Hold’em (Pot Limit, Fixed Limit and No Limit)
- Omaha (Pot Limit, Fixed Limit and No Limit)
- Omaha Hi/Lo (Pot Limit, Fixed Limit and No Limit)
- Stud (Hi, Hi/Lo, Razz)
- 5 Card Omaha (Pot Limit)
- 5 Card Omaha Hi/Lo (Pot Limit, Limit)
- Courchevel (Pot Limit)
- Courchevel (Pot Limit, Limit)
- Mixed Games (8-Game, HORSE, NLHE/PLO)
- 5 Card Draw (Pot Limit, Fixed Limit and No Limit)
- 2-7 Triple Draw (Pot Limit, Fixed Limit and No Limit)
- 2-7 Single Triple Draw (Limit)
Of course, players are not populating all these games at launch (and a fair number will continue to stay empty). Most of the action seen in the first two days are at the No-Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit games. Tables have been filling up at No-Limit Hold’em tables up to $0.50/$1.00 with some sporadic action occurring up to $5/$10.
Sit and Gos
In addition to the many cash games, there are some extra games in the lobby for Sit N Go players.
- 6+ Hold’em
- Swap Hold’em
- Showtime Hold’em
- Showtime Omaha
- Mixed Hold’em
- Mixed Omaha Hi/Lo
At launch, most of the games being created are at No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha with buy-ins ranging from $1 to $500. Hyper and Turbo SNGs are among the most popular games styles being offered.
Under the “Tourney” tab are PokerStars PA MTTs.
Like the PokerStars SNGs, most game options are listed in the PokerStars lobby. However, available tournaments in the first few days are limited to No Limit Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha with buy-ins ranging from $3 up to $50.
Styles of the available tournaments range from progressive bounties, turbos and deep stack events. Guaranteed tournaments are as high as $3,500, with the $3,500 Bounty Builder being the largest tournament on the second day.
What’s not available at PokerStars PA yet?
Although much of PokerStars standard offerings are represented at the online poker room, there are some exceptions.
Notably, Zoom Poker and Spin and Gos are not present in the lobby. There are expectations that these games will come soon, but at least not during the initial testing period.
These games will likely added at a later date, along with an expansion of cash games, and especially tournaments and Sit N Gos as testing concludes and a full launch occurs.
